Saturday Town: Our People
Casey Orr, Constellations, Shirley Baker
2nd October – 19th January
Stockroom, Stockport
Over the summer, award-winning photographer Casey Orr has been capturing the people of Stockport for the latest edition of Saturday Town, her ongoing pop-up photography project showcasing the styles and identities of young people across the North West of England.
Alongside the pop-up studio, Orr has been connecting with local young people from The Proud Trust’s Constellations group. Delving into Stockport’s local history archives, the group has explored what it means to be seen and represented in their own ways, through photography, collage, and connection.
Together with Casey, the group has considered their connections with Stockport and their own heritage, capturing and adding to the local heritage library as part of Historic England’s History in the Making.
Linking these connections over time, from the young people of Stockport today to those of the past, faces from the archives to Shirley Baker’s Stockport punks; Saturday Town: Our People explores what it means to belong.
DELVE is being funded by Historic England’s History in the Making. Saturday Town: Our People has been made possible with the generous support of Nan Levy for the Estate of Shirley Baker and DS Colour Labs.
