Throughout August we are reading Sunday Times bestseller The List by Yomi Adegoke.

Adegoke’s gripping debut follows journalist Ola Olajide as her fiancé, Michael, is named on a viral online list of anonymous allegations mere weeks before their wedding. As their relationship comes under intense public scrutiny, Ola is forced to question who, and what, she can believe. Blending psychological suspense with sharp social commentary, the novel explores trust, accountability, social media, feminism and the complexities of modern relationships.

Due to a change in our opening hours during the school Summer Holidays, we have changed the date of August's Book Club to Thursday September 3rd.

Stockroom Book Club is one of our regular Stockroom Socials, usually taking place the last Thursday of every month. We gather together to share our experiences of the same book. Whether you’ve read the month's book cover to cover or just want to be present and listen, you’re always welcome. Stockroom Book Club is more than reading - it’s also about connection and sharing your experiences with each other! Stockroom Book Club is open to anybody & everybody to join.

What does a session look like?

Where: Stockroom Book Club usually takes place on the ground floor of Stockroom, often on green velvet sofas in our Living Room area, just to your left as you enter Stockroom from Mersey Way Shopping Centre.

Who: Anybody and Everybody is welcome to read a long with us, you have an open invitation to join our monthly meet ups. You don’t have to have attended a session before, or commit to attending every following meet up. These meet ups aim to provide an opportunity to and meet, connect and share with lovely people.

When: You can arrive from 5pm, where we will spend time getting to know each other, before starting a conversation about our most recent read from around 5:30pm. The session continues until the conversation comes until a natural close. Ending no later than 7pm.

Feel: Stockroom Book Club is relaxed and friendly. We are kind, open-minded, and committed to creating an accessible, inclusive space for each other to enjoy. We explore a diverse range of books together and listen to each other's perspectives with an open mind and an open heart. Welcoming different perspectives from all our lived experiences.

Access:
Stockroom is a fully wheelchair accessible venue with lifts between the two floors as well as stairs. There is step-free access to the living room where Book Club takes place, and there are public toilets in Adlington Walk with accessible toilets, a Changing Places toilet, all-gender toilet and baby changing facilities in both single sex blocks, as well as an additional separate parent and child room with baby changing facilities. On the first floor of Stockroom, there are additional all gender individual fully contained toilet cubicles.
