Black History Month 2026 Takeover
Wednesday 28th October
Stockroom, 11AM - 2PM
Join us at Stockroom to celebrate Black History Month 2026 with Stockport Race Equality Partnership.
Throughout Stockroom, there will be activities to engage, share, and connect with Black History, including storytime at 11 AM for little ones, music and performances, market stalls throughout the living room, and more.
There will be space to share your stories with artist Akinyemi Oludele capturing and responding through live drawing.
What does the event look like?
Where: This takeover will take place across Stockroom, with a focus of activity in the Livingroom by the large windows on Merseyway. Once you arrive at Stockroom, representatives from S-Rep and staff wearing yellow lanyards will be on hand to help you find the right activities for you.
Who: This Black History Month takeover is a space to share and celebrate global majority history, experiences, and stories with anybody and everybody who wants to take part.
When: The activity will start on the day with a special Black History Month takeover of our regular Wednesday Morning storytime at 11AM, and will continue into the mid afternoon with pop-up perfromances and drop in activities.
Feel: This takeover is a welcoming celebration of black history. It is a relaxed, drop-in setting, and you are welcome to come and go throughout the day. There will be breakout spaces for conversations and sharing. Anybody and everybody is welcome to come down, whether you just want to see what it's all about or you want to get stuck in and get involved.
