Come and join us at the children’s library in Stockroom. It’s a place for families to immerse themselves in a creative learning space that places kids at its very heart.
Local children provided ideas for the space which is filled with things to inspire imagination, creativity, learning and play. Located on the ground floor of Stockroom, opposite the cafe and sensory room, it offers a range of events throughout the week, ranging from parent and baby groups to creative, messy play activities.
Central to the space is our Stockroom Treehouse, a physical play piece that will inspire joy, curiosity and fun. It's been designed with the help of Stockport children and their families and produced by local makers, Easy Peel.
With over 3000 books by the best children’s writers, each carefully selected by our brilliant library service, the Children’s Library is a space for stories: to be listened to and shared. The space has seating, including those accessible for both parents and children, plus snuggle chairs, fidget stools and a huge curvy sofa to cuddle up together and read. Nestled amongst the shelves you will find some very special objects from our Stockport Museum collections.
Stockroom offers a convenient haven for parents looking to take a short break from shopping. You’re welcome to make use of the facilities on offer, including on-site pram storage and Merseyway’s Parent and Child room alongside a quiet space and prayer room just next door.
