AMAZE: A Spectacular Projection
21 - 22 February 2026
Stockport is about to shine in a whole new way this February half term with AMAZE – a free, large-scale projection that brings local stories to life in the heart of the town centre. Presented by Stockroom, AMAZE is for anybody and everybody.
AMAZE is all about turning point moments – those decisions and experiences, big or small, that have shaped the lives of everyday Stopfordians. These stories will be transformed into a stunning visual experience on the iconic concrete screen of Merseyway car park, a much-loved backdrop to town-centre life for over 60 years.
The projection is created in collaboration with internationally renowned Illuminos, who are experts in turning buildings and public spaces into immersive, unforgettable visual experiences, blending light, sound, and storytelling. Their work has lit up cities across the UK and beyond, and now Stockport will have its very own large-scale projection.
As part of the AMAZE projection, Stockroom will be open until 8pm on both days, for a modernist inspired FREE evening of creativity, soundtracked by DJ duo SHIMRISE. The cafe will be open too, so pop in, grab a brew and get stuck in!

In this fun, hands-on workshop – based on the Exquisite Corpses exercise used in the study of architecture - people will use pictures of old buildings from Stockport’s market town to create brand new ones. By cutting, sticking and mixing different parts together, they’ll imagine exciting future buildings while learning about the town’s past in a creative and playful way. Led by Carma Masson, owner of Playground, a multidisciplinary architecture and design studio focused on creating playful, engaging and memorable spaces and places for people.
